carmen_lj: (two; old friends and soldiers)
Bits of me hurt mostly because I was maked to walk all day yesterday around bloody Glasgow. For that is where sister lives and she is all finished essays and whatnot for this year so is once again allowed to speak to people without being Stressed. She is now in France. Because she's that irritating sort of person who Does Stuff and is Well-Organised and all manner of other appalling things. I did, at least, get to mock about her flailing re getting lost in Charles De Gaulle airport, cause it's not like she hasn't been before or isn't fluent in French and I totally have been to Bigger Airports, All By Myself and I don't speak American and I was fine. Aha.

Other than that I was dead good in remembering I'm going to a con this week so should not spend money on Beautiful Shoes that I probably almost certainly had a better than even chance of walking in without breaking an ankle. Then I completely failed to be strong when I discovered Thundercats, on DVD and in a sale. Woes. Thundercats, ho! I shall totally be amused for at least an hour and then probably end up hating the theme song forevers.

The highlight of this exciting trip, however, was discovering the most delicious noodles I have ever tasted ever. Cause Prince's Square has New Restaurants and one is Japanese and it has noodles and they are the best noodles ever. I assume.

Fannishly, the last Multiverse is currently open for sign-ups. It is a v good and shiny ficathon and I think the first ficathon I ever did back when I was allowed to do them. ::encourages::
carmen_lj: (s&s; strength of steel)
Listened to the first of the Sapphire and Steel audios, which was all very nice and such. Atmospheric, vaguely attempting to make more sense than the series and horribly, horribly lacking in David McCallum. Clearly I am, at heart, terribly shallow and while the audios certainly mimic the tone of the series more than well and David Warner has a voice awfully well suited to the radio medium, all rich and expressive and the like, there's no getting around the fact that I'm not listening to Steel; I'm listening to bloody David Warner. (Susannah Harker gets away with being Sapphire for her voice is considerably less distinctive so I'm not thinking "omg, Mattie! You got shoved off the Houses of Parliament" every time she speaks and, awesome as Lumley was, she wasn't why I was watching S&S.)

Tis extra annoying cause I was drawn into believing Warner as the Doctor in Sympathy for the Devil (one of the BF Unbound range) so... it's actually David McCallum's fault for embodying the role so darn well... or I can cheerfully accept anyone as the Doctor, so long as they can act, vaguely.

And, like Sympathy for the Devil, The Passenger's got Mark Gatiss in it. Mark Gatiss playing Gold with almost exactly the same intonation as he played the Master in Sympathy. So thanks to that whole Use Your Imagination aspect of audios, Gold is now the Master in my head. OH GOOD ONE IMAGINATION THANKS FOR THAT. Dammit. On the bright side, Hugo Myatt did not appear as Treguard. He was v good though, yes.

Mostly, I'm hoping they pick up a bit. Or Warner puts on a Scottish accent. Cause that would amuse me.

Which reminds, I maked icons a while back but did not post. Mostly S&S (assignments 2 and 3), some DS9 (mostly the Ship.) Want. Take. Have. :
