  • Re Star Wars poll: it's Return of the Jedi, obviously. But I was thrown into a pit of DOUBT and TERROR regarding this last week as I came across several instances of people saying something along the lines of "and this is why this thing is the worst, like Empire Strikes Back is obv the worst (original) SW movie." And there was no disagreement expressed. It happened three times, in three entirely different fannish places, thus I was distraught and confused and wondering if I had woken up in the wrong universe or if the UNIVERSE HAD LIED TO ME. Everyone knows RotJ is the worst one*, it's like rain is wet and bananas are yellow**, and then my only evidence for this that I could come up with was Scream, and probably it's not brilliant to base any knowledge on Scream, so I had to check. By LJ poll. Ahrrm.

  • These are things I think about Star Wars: Han shot first; Lando was in An Impossible Situation and trying to protect the thousands of people in the city rather than His Rebel Buddy was not thrillingly heroic but a sensibly pragmatic decision that I can't be judgey about; KotOR is best.

  • I do not know what to think about these. Doctor Who costume t-shirts. WHO COMES UP WITH THIS TAT? Why is there rubbish like this when I still have no Genesis Giant Clam playset, darnit. It's terrifying. I want one, and yet I know I'd never wear it, just look at it sometimes and be perplexed at its existence.

  • One more reason to love Bioware.

  • So, I feel I should be Incredibly Judgey at the new Three Musketeers movie after this, um, interesting trailer. And yet, no, I'm leaning towards magnificently absurd, and Milady is swordfighting. Also after that last Robin Hood movie, I remember saying I wanted to see Matthew MacFadyen (who, normally, I can't stand) do more comedy and his deadpan here made me lol even though it was A Well Cheap Joke. And Ray Stevenson's Porthos! That's smashing, that is.

*I know not actually everyone, but it's a pretty solid majority opinion. According to the skience of my LJ poll, anyway, and what greater skience is there than that?

**or green or brown or black, whatevs.

I couldn't vote for the Star Wars poll. I LOVE THEM ALL LIKE I LOVE... ummm... things that I love. *shifty eyes* And as someone who owns the Ewok Adventures, I certainly can't choose RotJ as the worst.

Also also, I kind of want Five's shirt. I have PJ bottoms that look exactly like his pants. I could cosplay when I go to sleep! IT'D BE MARVELOUS.

I don't even have any reasons for thinking it's actually the worst other than Well It Is. That's not a proper reason at all.

If there was a Troughton one I know I'd buy it because I HATE MYSELF.

I actually chose Empire. My reasoning was more emotional than practical, though. Technically, Empire is the better movie (better structure, more tension, etc), but I'm not enamored of Darth Vader, so...::shrug::

Which is ironic, because Anakin's redemption is kind of the point. But the character has never thrilled me, so there ya go. This would also be one of the reasons I'm not fond of the prequels.

Aye, my reasoning for loving the first one best is purely down to "ooh, Peter Cushing, yay!"

There are many, many reasons I love not the prequels. The presentation of Anakin's character ranks fairly high.

Great links! I'm fighting myself off from buying EVERY ONE of those shirts. They are made of wonderful. And I totally just got done reading The Three Musketeers book for the first time and was wishing they would make a new movie of it. Of course...I don't remember adding the words Steam-Punk or Bizarreness to my wish list, but hey, I'll take what I can get. ^.^

Thanks for sharing!

Oh, and I have to admit, RofJ is mah fav. Star Wars movie...

My favourite Three Musketeers is Micheal York's one, and the sequel. It has teh lols, though does fail at the steampunk which I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO THINK ABOUT.

I was confused as to why you even needed a poll. RotJ is the worst one - this is universally acknowledged and whomever defies it clearly is wrong in the head. Then again, personal preference so what do I know. *g*

Well, having specially rewatched the Original Star Wars Trilogy to check, I stand by my original opinion - mostly because a rewatch revealed to me that A New Hope is REALLY BORING. Sos about that. Return of the Jedi and me will sit in our corner, we don't mind. :)

I agree about Lando. On rewatch, I realised that my Favourite Lando Moment is that he takes time to warn the city that they are all in Big Trouble and should leg it because lots of things would have forgotten that and it pleases me that Lando does not. *waves Lando flag*

I want a Colin Baker costume T-shirt. And a Genesis Clam set. IT COULD HAPPEN.

I saw that one, but by this point I've got an Eleventy shirt from them, the one with all eleven Doctors jammed into the doorway of the TARDIS together, and the one that showed Eight, Eleven, Four and Ten as members of a rock band. So I figured this time I'd pass.

Plus, even if he didn't have those reasons, I would totally sell my friends out for dinner with Darth Vader too. Even if he did insist on bringing Boba Fett. Thus I cannot judge.

I would only have sold out some of my friends for dinner with Grand Moff Tarkin, mainly because I would want to see if he really did hover an inch above the ground at all times. (For real; the original movies, you never see his feet and you never heard his footsteps because Cushing hated his boots and thus insisted on wearing slippers the whole time).

I have too many Doctor Who shirts to buy one of those for Chicago TARDIS. (Because clearly I'll either be in full costume or just be wearing a TeeFury shirt and jeans, probably under my ten coat or with my Four hat and Scarf just because.)

I hadn't heard about a new Musketeers movie (and can't watch the trailer at work), but I'm willing to be charmed by swordfighting with a bit of steampunk.
