That Aztec Lady
Jul. 18th, 2006 06:05 pmFirstly, I am surprised I am not dead. I, brilliantly really, slept through most of the KILLING SUN HOURS, but oh my, it is still there trying to melt the world and has to STOP NOW. Eitber that, or my blood has to get a lot thinner very, very quickly.
Secondly, I was writing ficlast night this morning that was a bit weird. Because I'm pretty sure I wasn't writing it. I mean, I wasn't even thinking, I was just typing and words were appearing and the story was being made. So I now have 4000 words of...stuff. Also, it is BLOODY GEN DESPITE HAVING TEN AND ROSE AND ROMANA AND REINETTE. HOW DOES THIS HAPPEN? It is not deliberate. It just...nobody wants to do anything but sit about and talk, apparently. Hate them all.
Thirdly, was getting Aztecs for future vidding purposes (Seven & Ace must Stop Touching Now, they are breaking down my slight squick) and watched, and, oh, it was So Much Better than What I Remember. Babs is utterly stunning and there are some fabulous scenes between her and One about how she can't change history and my heart broke about when he said, "I know, believe me, I know." Because, dude, he's either talking about Susan's grandmother or his mother and it Makes Me Cry. Yes.
Also, this asexuality thing is all Tom Baker's fault isn't it? Cause, yeah, One and That Aztec Lady is sort of used as a short-hand Old Skool argument for The Doctor's Fancied People Before Rose, but having just watched the thing, dismissing it as desperation on part of Old Skool to Make A Point is really unfair. Cause it really is a beautiful little story and played so well by the two of em. And the Doctor fancies Cameca as soon as he spots her; he's staring across the garden, demanding to know who she is from another Aztec before he's said a word to her. And, yes, he's a bit shocked at the unexpected engagement, but is quite happy about it by the time he tells Ian. And, really, there's no other way to interpret it other than this really sweet romance between two somewhat lonely people. There should be more One/Cameca, dude.
I want to watch GitF'ace, but cannot work out which video it's on. Woe to my organisational capabilities.
