The conditioning, to think of the Doctor as almost asexual. As I've seen it, and I may be wrong, that seems to be almost...quasi-canonical? Like the writers did their best to go "Nope! None of that now!" And then it just got away from them at times. In specific? Four/Romana II- awesome characters meets real life bleeding through. Five/Tegan, great chemistry between actors/characters meets the fact that Peter Davison just can't seem to stop touching Janet Fielding? (And who the heck can *blame him*, my shallow side says)
But to me...sex isn't the issue to be fan phobic about. When it comes down to it, sex is simplistic. It's a basic drive, nothing more nothing less. I think he *could* approach it with that in mind. It's when silly human beings put *emotion* behind it that I can see it being a problem for him.
