Jamie McCrimmon, the Doctor's Actual Proper Soulmate Part II

"People have often said to me the kilt is too short."
Fraser Hines, The Mind Robber commentary

In a, er, continuing series exploring the Deep and Meaningful Love of Jamie and the second Doctor, I present The Mind Robber, recapped and retold to highlight the fact that it is, really, a Heart-Warming Love Story.

THIS MAY BE THE BEST STORY EVER. Really. I mean that. A lot.

The Mind Robber: A Love Story Outside of Time & Space

Tension! The TARDIS is about to be buried by a volcano's lava flow (cause, last time, the Doctor decided to blow up an island, for reals) and Jamie is, naturally, e'er so slightly worried.

Jamie helps by doing hand!porn. Possibly OT3 hand!porn: Doctor/Jamie/TARDIS 4eva!

But things just get worse and they get zapped out of the universe. Naturally, this means Jamie must cling to the Doctor.

Eek! There is something outside! Something scary! Clinging is inevitable.

"Don't go outside, Jamie," says the Doctor. "It are scary, and you are so wee and fragile!"

Then the TARDIS breaks up, everyone gets lost and Jamie loses his face. Luckily, the Doctor is on hand to help, hurrah!

Oopsie. The Doctor gets it slightly wrong. New face! Sekritly the Doctor thinks how neat it is that Jamie is a bit like a Time Lord now.

The Doctor shows Jamie that he still loves him no matter what face he wears by touching. And then looking up his kilt.

A chance for another new face! The Doctor sneakily tries to pick the wrong one, but luckily Zoe is on hand to shake her head and tell him to stop being so silly.

This is the Doctor's happy face. He uses this face when he makes Jamie look right again.

OT3!cling...there are some robots chasing them or summin'.

This dude wrote stories about Captain Jack Harkaway in this magazine. Just sayin'.

Oh noes! Jamie is being squished in a giant book!

This makes the Doctor very, very sad. Then he runs away and almost actually cries, zomg!

Then he rescues them. By writing fanfic. I AM NOT MAKING THIS UP.

Jamie and Zoe save the day by Pressing Buttons, hurrah!

Big group finish! And woe to no last minute clinging, hmph.

The End!

cause, last time, the Doctor decided to blow up an island, for reals

Is that why?! I thought they'd just randomly gone to a volcano. (Srsly, I had no idea.)

Then he rescues them. By writing fanfic. I AM NOT MAKING THIS UP.

It funny because it are true!

If I were to DL this, what seasons/eps would this be?

This is made of WIN. And it was also the first Two ep I ever saw, yay!

And there totally needs to be more Jamie/Doctor/Zoe fic. 'Tis a pity there is no cap of Zoe's shiny arse spinning on the console, but it's not about that, so fair enough. ;)

Captain Jack! And fanfic saving the day.

The story seems weird as anything, though. *shakes head*

I never realized how much Jamie clings to the Doctor. TWUE WUV, yo. You need to link to these in [livejournal.com profile] who_otp so everyone not on your flist also knows the Deep and Abiding Love of Two/Jamie.

Oh noes! Jamie is being squished in a giant book!

Is that what the kids are calling what he and Zoe are doing in that book these days?

[identity profile] lesbiassparrow.livejournal.com 2006-08-19 04:03 am (UTC)(link)
And to think the Doctor can't even go back and visit him and swap stories because Jamie no longer remembers it. *sigh*

I love everything about this story: the quite obvious Doctor and Jamie love, Zoe's shiny outfit (in which she does some serious kung-fu), the creepy kids, and THE ROBOTS OF DEATH. Well, they're not quite robots of death because they don't kill anyone, but they could be.

::CHEERS::

I loved this story, though it was a wee bit odd and I couldn't get non-DW fen who were watching to get into it. Until the shiny, shiny catsuit arse made an appearance, ahem. Boys.

The part about the fanfic? SO TRUE. YAYS!

THE MIND ROBBER IS THE BEST TELLY STORY EVER AND TWO IS THE BEST DOCTOR AND AND AND YAAAAAAAAY.

[identity profile] th-esaurus.livejournal.com 2006-08-19 09:13 am (UTC)(link)
Their love, it is true.

My favourite bit was when Zoe was like, YOU GOT HIS FACE WRONG?! OH DOCTOR.

Then he rescues them. By writing fanfic. I AM NOT MAKING THIS UP.

Is it Jamie/Zoe/Captain Jack Harknessaway OT3?

[identity profile] sheldrake.livejournal.com 2006-08-19 12:33 pm (UTC)(link)
:)

I feel ever so warm and fuzzy now.

[identity profile] --kali--.livejournal.com 2006-08-19 05:04 pm (UTC)(link)
I have not seen this story and now I really want to because it is made of awesome and fanfic saves the day! yay!

Now I love The Mind Robber even more than I already did, if that's possible!

Excellent re-recapping. The entire episode makes much more sense now. And truly their love is obvious for all to see.

Wow. They're so... shippy. *pets them and makes note to check Second Doctor soon*

Then he rescues them. By writing fanfic. I AM NOT MAKING THIS UP.

O_O

The sheer obvious truth of their love makes me weep tears of joy.

Yet another reason why The Mind Robber is the bestest story in the world, oh yes.

See, I watched The Two Doctors recently for the first time, and apart from my completely unashamed new affection for the oft-reviled Six (albeit helped along by listening to the commentary with CBaker), I spent the whole time thinking Jamie and Two would go adorably together...

I'M VINDICATED!

[identity profile] van.livejournal.com 2006-08-22 06:26 am (UTC)(link)
I know you know but I just have to say that this is love.

[identity profile] kismeteve.livejournal.com 2006-08-23 07:04 pm (UTC)(link)
I love The Mind Robber.

and not just because of Zoe in the spangly catsuit

OT3!cling...there are some robots chasing them or summin'.

...The Doctor is totally copping a feel in that picture. Ha.
