And here are some lovely replies to the Five Things, more forthcoming:

From [livejournal.com profile] misscam Top five fictional women who would make good rulers of the world.

1 - Barbara Wright. Obv it would be a very sensible sort of world. With cardigans and stuff.

2 - She-Ra Princess of Power. There would be justice and fairness and awesome swordfights, woot!

3 - Gwen (BBC's Merlin). The sensible one with the resolute moral core, a natural sense of justice and all that handy stuff for not being tyrannical.

4 - Uhura. Hell yeah. I may go WTF at the idea of her being 166 and head of Starfleet Intelligence during the Dominion War (srsly, WTF is that?) but I would totally vote for her.

5 - Harriet Jones. Would CoE have happened if certain Time Lords hadn't engaged in being capricious pettiness? I think not.

From [livejournal.com profile] rhipowered top five times the Doctor got told off

1 - Babs in Edge of Destruction. After she works out how to save em all she suggests he get down on his knees and beg forgiveness for being suck a grumpy arrogant sod.

2 - The First Doctor telling off his Second and Third selves for being a bit crap in The Three Doctors.

3 - Martha in Lazarus Experiment. When she tells him to cut the shit out with the "one more trip" nonsense. It was exactly what I wanted to see then and it happened onna screen! Gleeness!

4 - Pana in Kinda. She tells the Doctor he's a bally idiot who should shusht while she tries to explain how the Mara are going to destroy everything to Dr. Todd. He takes it awfully well.

5 - The Bowler-Hatted Time Lord in Terror of the Autons. Of all the times the Doctor gets told off by the Time Lords for his behaviour, this is my favourite.

From [livejournal.com profile] prettyquotable Top 5 lulzy Ashes to Ashes moments

I haven't seen season one for ages and only seen season two twice so am a bit hazy, but:

1 - Vienna playing as Gene smashes the window and rushes in to rescue Alex. I HOPE THAT WAS MEANT FOR LULZ CAUSE IT WAS AWESOME LULS INDEED.

2 - The way Alex just looks at Gene when they're first driving around in his car as she quietly judges his driving.

3 - AIR QUOTES.

4 - The slo-mo shot of the bed covers flying back and eventually revealing Gene. Again, I'm not entirely sure that was for lulz but it was most lulzy.

5 - Her little walk and twist and look at Gene as her psychology stuff works and the key to the flat is dropped down to her. (I FAIL AT REMEMBERING WHAT EPISODE.)

Top 5 Morgana moments

1 - The whole scene at the end of To Kill A King with her and Uther at her father's grave and the her realising what a terrible thing she's put in motion, killing someone for the first time and then the standing together with swishy cloaks at the end. OH GOD THE AWESOME IT IS GREAT.

2 - Swordfightings! All shots of shiny shiny swordfighting, especially when she reminded Arthur of when she used to beat him.

3 - The dinner scene with Uther.

4 - Riding into the forest in the prettiest green dress in the world and instead of being used as a hostage convincing the dudes she could help them kill Uther.

5 - Telling Arthur that Mordred was hidden in her room to bluff him into not looking.

Top 5 epic fandom wanks

ANYTHING NOT INVOLVING SPECIAL SNOWFLAKES ATTA TEASPOON, or...

1 - The Msscribe Saga on bad_penny. That was like a fandom political thriller thing.

2 - Lexicongate. Mmm, legalicious.

3 - Ian Levine. Thirty years of wank and still going strong.

4 - BBC vs BBCi. Tiny and delicious. BBCi posted a bitchy banner on the official Doctor Who website cause no-one bothered to tell them the new series was happening. (Shusht, I know you said epic but this was like pros which makes ickle things really big things, or summin...)

5 - CrystalWank.

From [livejournal.com profile] wondygal Top five Babs moments!

1 - Babs vs One in The Aztecs. The scene where he tries to argue her out of trying to change history is one of my favourite Who scenes ever. Both actors are magnificent.

2 - I love this wee speech in Reign of Terror. The TARDIS team are having a terrifying time and constantly in danger of execution by the French revolutionaries, but Barbara's still a history teacher and remembers that history is never clear cut: "The revolution isn't all bad, and neither are the people who support it. It changed things for the whole world, and good, honest people gave their lives for that change... You check your history books, Ian, before you decide what people deserve."

3 - Running down the Daleks inna truck (DIoE). What really makes it is her grin afterwards.

4 - Her first scene with Saladin, where she tells him his dude is a fool and earns Saladin's respect.

5 - "What's that awful noise?" - Babs

"I beg your pardon... 'Awful noise'? A good way to talk about my singing!" - Doctor

"No, Doctor, not that awful noise — the other one!" - Babs

It's the matter of factness in the way she says it that makes it brilliant.

From [livejournal.com profile] londonesque Your top 5 'Martha >>> Everyone else' moments.

Season three?? Or...

1 - The cliffhanger resolution to Human Nature. Duuuude. That is like my favourite resolution eva. It's a gorgeous cliffhanger, with dozens of innocents in danger, the Doctor out of the picture, someone about to die, and then Martha manages to turn the situation round with some fancy moving and ruthlessness. IT IS FLAPPY HANDS GOOD SO IT IS. It's Martha's first human!Doctor moment. Cause that's tots where she ends up, and it is rocking.

2 - "I'm coming back." AAAHHH! I remember jumping up at that cause that was when I was OMG MARTHA YOU ARE MY FAVOURITE FOREVER. The look on her face is awesome.

3 - Gridlock - the conversation at the end. Up to this point I'd liked Martha, but this was when I knew I was gonna love her. Gorgeous scene.

4 - BONES OF THE HAND.

5 - I think most people go for the laughing in the Master's face as her Big Moment of Awesome in LotTL, but my favourite's when she comes out to face him on the street. Moments before we saw how terrified she was on the stairs, but there's nothing but sheer determination and resoluteness in her expression when she goes to face him.

From [livejournal.com profile] vonquixote Top five moments of Epic Fail. Any source material you like.

1 - The Dune prequels. Ugh. Beloved characters reduced to childish scrawls, barely even caricutres of themselves; plotlines so dull, so plodding; continuity ignored for no good reason and a tendency to brutally do away with all the female characters. While I'd never actually burn any books, in principle I'm totally in favour of rounding up every single copy of the Brainn Herbert and Kevin J Anderson Dune prequels, sequels, and stupidly inserted between Dune and Dune Messiah trilogies rounded up and burnt.

2 - Turn Left - Science fiction AU written be someone who's never read any science fiction is one thing, but the real fail is the racism. Let's have Planet of the Chinese stereotypes! And some Yellow Terror from the spooky fortune teller! And othering of the Spanish maid with her creepy sounding forun words! And comedy Italians! How the fuck did this get made?

3 - Journey's End - Oh....it's just a horrid horrid mess. There're loads of moments I like, but really, it's....like Plot is a human being, and this Plot got zapped like Schnieder in Earthshock and someone found her gooey remains and thought they would do just fine for the finale. Stripping all agency from two of your three female leads sucks. Say what you like about the occasional companion leaving for marriage in the classic series, at least they chose to leave for wedded bliss. (Excepting Susan, but even then she got the chance to know her new bf instead of being dumped with a slightly creepy clone she met five minutes ago.)

4 - Escape from Monkey Island - DOESN'T EXIST. THERE IS NOTHING FUNNY ABOUT RANDOM AUSTRALIAN INVESTORS. NOTHING. Now let us all be very thankful it turned out not to have killed the franchise after all.

5 - Janeway, Tuvok and Torres voluntarily being assimilated by the Borg. There's some stuff I like about how Voyager dealt with the Borg. Mostly to do with Borg Queen and Janeway scenes of awesome. I did not like them turning what had been a terrifying and deeply scary concept into something what they casually did without a care and instantly recovered from. WHATEVS.
