Two of my shows finished last weekend, A2A and LotS. Not Lost. That has the same letters but is not my show. Mostly I am bitter at it because it got SIX YEARS and lovely LotS got only two. Boo.

Both finales pleased me immensely. One because its plotline, themes and character arcs had an emotionally and intellectually satisfying conclusion, the other because it was pretty and had swordfights. Mostly the only thing I loved not in LotS was the last line. About how love was the most powerful magic of all. Literally, in Seekerworld. And then when Kara should have said something sarcastic about that, she didn't. Alas.

I did most awfully like that Rahl ended season one burnt to a crisp and very much dead but managed to Come Back From That in season two and got himself a new body and regained a bit of his power base. And ended the season very much alive and quite chipper cause he'd just caught a sorceress who'd almost boiled him alive. It's always nice when Villains What I Like manage to win, or at least not die...or not die permanently. Cause this is a show where death is considerably less inconvenient than, say, having a limb hacked off.

A2A gave me pretty much everything wanted from its finale. I'd be judgier that Keats went all demonic except that he did scare me a bit - something about the way he moved when he was Being Evil reminded me of humans turning into monsters in In The Mouth of Madness, and that film scares me to unreasonable levels, mostly cause I saw it when I was fair wee, but yeah. Gene describing his death made me flail almost as much as the last scene, and though nothing unexpected really happened, everything that did happen did so rather well. Season one is still my favourite, but season three was none too shabby, and it did end beautifully, so well done, A2A.

Next to go is The Tudors. Woes.
