Maybe you could find a fan friend to visit for a day or a weekend or something who would like to do fannish things and also go see the movie with you. And then it wouldn't be going to another country for a movie, it would be going to another country to visit a friend. (I once took a bus to another state to see a TV episode, but it was the season finale and a bunch of people were getting together at this one person's place so it was like a mini-con.)
