concerning Tom Baker's birthday

Twitter keeps telling me Tom Baker is 78 today. That's BLOODY RIDICULOUS. My grandfather is 78. Tom Baker is not the same age as my grandfather. Tom Baker is Santa Claus and timeless and magic, and I suggest we freeze him at once and then wake him up in like a thousand years when a whole new world can benefit from his awesome wisdom and voice and boggly eyes.

...

Boggly is almost certainly a real word, I'm sure. (And if it's not, it should be.) I'm not using boggling, boggling is rubbish.

Livejournal ATE MY COMMENT.

Trying again.

I bought Tom Baker's Ultimate Sci-Fi Quiz in a charity shop the other day, and cannot WAIT to try it out with my erstwhile MA in Science Fiction colleagues when I visit them next month.

He's a real legend.

Having lost Doctors in the '70s, '80s and '90s, I was terribly relieved that Tom survived the 2000s. I STRONGLY APPROVE of this freezing plan!

Only after he's finished recording commentaries for all his serials.

He would be suspended in perfect hibernation...sorry, I've been playing waaaaaay too much Star Wars Old Republic Online!

I dunno if freezing him is a good idea, though. The Big Finish fanbase would tan your hide for stopping him just as he's finally come around to doing audios for them...

I think freezing is a good idea. He's certainly not allowed to get any older. That way risk lies.

I had some of the first funny feelings I can remember ever having watching Tom Baker as a prepubescent child. TMI, maybe, but it seems weird to have a thing for a guy who's 78.

Wait, what am I saying? I have crushes on people who are dead.

We have that DVD. If you play it a few times, some of the clips and questions will tend to become repetitive (while some others possibly never come up - the nature of randomness I guess), but it should prove fun for the odd game or two over time. When we saw that Tom Baker had a sci fi quiz DVD, we just knew we had to get it!

I'm sure he's lying about his age, he's probably 300 or something.

Oh, it's mainly just for drunken japes with SF fans - I can't see it being played more than once or twice! But thanks for the review, glad I'm not the only one who's got it - I had similar feelings when I saw it, that it had got to be mine!
