30 Days of Star Trek

...except I'm just going to do them all now, cause there's no way I'll remember to update for thirty days and I might miss out on the opportunity to go on a bit about how much I love the Andorian antennae in ENT and no-one wants that.
1 - Which Star Trek is your favorite?
DS9. I love these dudes best and I love the huge, sprawling feel of the series, like a great massive telly novel. And the Bajoran politics arc early on is almost as yayful to me as Epic Galactic War.
2 - Who is your favorite character?
When I was very, very young, like before DS9, it was Uhura. Then for ages it was Jadzia. I don't really have a favourite character now though, annoyingly, I do like all the regulars, save one.
3 - Who is your least favorite character?
Regular-wise, Mayweather. SO BORING I CAN'T EVEN REMEMBER HIS FIRST NAME. And he can't act. Which annoys me no end because EVERY OTHER TREK REGULAR IS AT LEAST 'DECENT ENOUGH' AT THE ACTING THING. Yeah, even Beltran with his constant phoning it in. And that is as nothing to the tedium that is Mayweather.
Though I like how the writers seemed to agree with me, gave him one episode that was about him, where he was rubbish, then pretty much stopped giving him lines. GOOD MOVE.
4 - What was the first Star Trek series you watched?
TOS.
5 - What was the first episode/movie you watched?
And The Children Shall Lead. And instead of recognising it as a truly shit piece of telly, it scared the dickens out of me.
6 - Your favorite canon pairing? (Canon being the series and the movies, including the reboot.)
Amanda/Sarek. By which I mean proper Amanda/Sarek. I judge V Little about the reboot harshly, but that is so not Sarek.
7 - Your favorite non-canon pairing?
Probs Bashir/O'Brien, or Janeway/Seven.
8 - Your favorite actor/actress? (Not the same as character.)
Siddig El Fadil. Who is quite smashing in Trek but has become increasingly attractive the older he gets so, shallowly, I tend to like him much better in other things.
9 - What's your favorite episode?
Out of ALL OF STAR TREK? Surely I can at least get one ep a series?
TOS: The Enterpise Incident
TNG: The Best of Both Worlds
DS9: ...this is quite tricky, for there are loads I love, um, Far Beyond The Stars.
VOY: Counterpoint
ENT: In A Mirror, Darkly
10 - What's your favorite species? (Humans are a species as well.)
Oh, ROMULANS. I love Romulans, they are AMAZING. TOS Romulans are FLAWLESS. TNG does very well, esp in s3. There are some EXCELLENT DS9 ones, esp Senator Cretak though I hate what happened to her and the idea that the Vice-Chairman of the Tal Shiar is a Federation traitor, WHATEV.
There are no good Romulans in ENT though, which is bloody annoying, but luckily it has Andorians, who're my favourites there. THEY HAVE ANTENNAE. THAT MOVE WITH THEIR FEELINGS.
11 - What's your least favorite species? (See question 9 about species.)
Bloody Klingons and their bloody hypocrisy and constant whinging about honour. Boring.
12 - What's your favorite funny moment?
Dax and Sisko throwing tribbles onto Kirk's head.
13 - What's your favorite dramatic moment?
Picard being revealed as Locutus.
14 - What's your favorite Star Trek quote?
"It's easy to be a saint in Paradise."
15 - How did you get into Star Trek?
My father was a big fan, and we had all the things on VHS when I was growing up.
16 - Are you involved with Star Trek fandom?
On occasion, very slightly.
17 - Have you read any of the books? If so, which ones?
I used to read the TNG novels when we went on holiday, Dad's fault again. I remember one about a Borg being detached from the Collective and her not being a whole person any more and found it quite horrid and upsetting.
18 - If you could be any species in the Star Trek universe, what would you be?
When I was playing Star Trek Online, I was an Andorian captain, it was most pleasing.
19 - How did the Star Trek reboot affect you?
It was quite good, I thought. Unthrilled about Vulcan's fate but surprised at how few of the recast characters I didn't hate with fire and rage.
20 - Of the minor characters (one shots, not the recurring ones) who's your favorite?
Kashyk. A worrying number of years ago, there was a Janeway/Kashyk mailing list and it was awesome and that was my only regular contact with Voyager fandom.
21 - Which Star Trek food would you want to try at least once?
Romulan ale.
22 - Which Star Trek world would you want to visit at least once?
...Romulus. SHUSHT I CAN'T HELP BEING PREDICTABLE.
23 - Is there anything you'd want to change about Star Trek? Why?
Erase Nemesis and have a LOVELY MOVIE with proper Romulan antagonists and no fucking Remans, who don't exist anyway lalala. Another series of ENT, since it was getting better and they were going to make Shran a regular. No Chakotay/Seven romance cause that was just silly, and have an episode or two at the end as a nice epilogue to VOY where we see them back on Earth. More KirstieAlley!Saavik. No Vulcan go boom. Less annoying actors playing Sarek and Chekov in the reboot. And Number One in the reboot...and in TOS. No Jadzia dying. Equal numbers of men and women in the main casts. And some gay characters. No Mayweather. More Romulans and Andorians. And Horta. I like Horta. More starships should be piloted by big rocks, I think.
Why? Because these changes would Make It Better, obv.
24 - Is there anything about Star Trek that has disappointed you?
The end of VOY a little bit. It's quite a good story in itself, but I just felt like I needed more closure afterwards. All Good Things... which is just incredibly awful. Most of the TNG movies.
25 - How has Star Trek changed you?
It's nicked quite a lot of time that I could've spent reading.
26 - Lots of Star Trek Parodies out there. Which do you dig?
Galaxy Quest.
27 - What would you cross over with Star Trek?
Star Wars. Like this.
28 - If you could change one thing about Star Trek, what would it be?
Number One, Chapel and Rand in the reboot.
29 - If you could tell Gene Roddenberry one thing, Star Trek related or not, what would it be?
Er....I quite like that telly show what you made?
A question seems to be missing...I shall make one up!
What's you favourite movie?
A tricky tie between II and VI, both excellent in all the good ways of movies. IV is lolarious, but I prefer the Epic Space Opera stuff.
