So, what this actually means for the Ponds is that they will now be able to run into most old school companions easy as pie. THIS PLEASES ME FIC-WISE.
And I disagree with crit based on "Amy dies for Rory." Firstly, she doesn't die - she goes back in time to be with him. And in the very same episode he was going to throw himself off a building in order to try and fix things so he didn't live most of his life without her ffs.
It's not that Amy died for Rory, it's not even they they're willing to die for each other (though they are), it's that they'd rather risk a dangerous path in order to be with each other, than a safe path where they know they won't.
And to cast that as dying for her man" I find pretty disingenous.
