Children in Need Doctor Who things

Y'know, I'm not sure...not *entirely* sure...but I *think* someone just might be MOCKING FANDOM in the opener to this mini-episode:
"The Doctor has just said goodbye...to Amelia Pond, the woman who will never be replaced in his hearts," says Matt Smith.
*camera pulls back*
"Hi!" says Jenna-Louise Coleman.
Here it is, and even unequivocably legal! It's a BBC upload to Youtube:
PROLOGUE, MATT SMITH AND WRITER OF THE TELEPROMPTER. This is a PROLOGUE. NOT A PREQUEL. You can't have a prequel WHEN THE 'PREQUEL' IS OUT FIRST. Star Wars: A New Hope is NOT A PREQUEL to The Empire Strikes Back. Raiders of the Lost Ark is NOT THE SEQUEL to Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom.
Jenny has a surname, hurrah! And a good one too: Jenny Flint. I WANT MORE OF THEM. I know we're getting more at Christmas, but MORE AFTER THAT PLEASE THANK YOU.
I might have mentioned, on occasion, how much I really don't like miserable emo Doctor. It's one variation of the tedious as fuck "dark Doctor" thing and is only marginally better than the crazed power hungry twat from Water of Mars. It's not darker and edgier, it's never been darker and edgier. It's just boring.
The Paternoster Row Gang, however, AWESOME.
And the bit afterwards with Smith and Jenna-Louise Coleman. I HOPE HER COMPANION GETS LOTS OF COMEDY I LIKE HER TIMING LOTS.
And then there was a trailer for the Christmas ep:
YEAH THAT LOOKS V COOL. New Who hasn't had the best of records with Christmas Specials, but I think between Vastra & Jenny, introducing a new companion and LOLARIOUS EVIL SNOWMEN, this one might not be too shabby.

Date: 2012-11-17 02:57 pm (UTC)Moffat has a habit of making seemingly mundane things scary. He did it with statues and shadows, now snowmen. Wait. They all begin with an 'S'. What next, sausages?

Date: 2012-11-17 05:22 pm (UTC)If there's a fandom for the Paternoster Row Gang, I'm totally joining. They're the epitome of awesome and I'm thrilled that they're coming back.

Date: 2012-11-17 05:29 pm (UTC)The Companion is Mary Poppins, Vastra and Jenny are Sherlock and Watson, and Stax declares war on the moon.... EVERYTHING IS LOVELY! <3

Date: 2012-11-17 06:59 pm (UTC)Really, all he's wanted is a nifty hat since his first (on-screen) regeneration.
All doom and gloom, but at least he's got that hat.
(PS: As long as the gloom doesn't last longer than the first few minutes of the Christmas special I'm okay with it. After all, the First Doctor was allowed to be depressed in the first episode after
Susan lefthe kicked Susan out. It's when the dark, mad, "edginess" casts a pall over a season or a tenure that things get bad *ahem* Six *ahem* Also, it gave Moffat a chance to mock all the implausible plots of the last 50 years...)no subject
