So, yes, entire flist has by now seen this picture, but I feel I should comment once more on its fabulousness. For not only does Mr Barrowman look truly, truly mirror-lickingly handsome (it is surely wrong that a promo shot makes me want to write fic, yes?) but Eve Myles is rather stunning too. And..and...I am judging purely on the look of the photo so I am clearly going to push this line of thought way too far, but she looks a little more grown-up, a little more serious, or maybe studious than Rose.
And I don't dislike Rose particularly, I just find her rather, um, dull a lot of the time. And am probably stopped from active dislike by Billie's consistently marvellous performance in the role, cause she is great, but the character is a bit meh (and, oh gosh, her mother...). Oh, I don't know, I guess it just looks like she'll have more of a Liz Shaw rather than Ace personality (er, I'm going to get yelled at for comparing Rose to Ace, aren't I? And for being judgie at promo shots?) and I prefer that type of companion, who has a more intellectual intelligence rather than, for lack of a better term (though it might actually be a term, but I am also making it up just now) emotional intelligence. And they do tend to fall into those two groups...but then that's Old!Who...and this isn't even DW...um...and she isn't a companion...
Obviously, obviously the flaw there is that the Doctor has all the intellecutal intelligence, and, indeed, wisdom, that one needs to save the universe so a particularly intellectual companion is possibly rather redundant but then the Doctor's clearly repressed or summin' and so a companion who forces him to face that is a good thing. For drama. Probably. But despite my love of Jamie, I still generally prefer Zoe/Romana/Liz types to Tegan/Polly/Ace types. And then there are the lovely people who embody both and are thus, arguably, the best characters - I'm thinking of Barbara and Sarah Jane here - or I could be overthinking the entire thing or possibly talking a lot of nonsense. Cause it is just a photo.
But, yes, I'm really looking forward to Torchwood and rather craving more info and shiny pictures, yes.
