Windows Movie Maker and I seem to be improving our relationship. We have gone from mutual fiery hatred to a mild dislike and lukewarm mistrust. I have patience, and do not yell when WMM freezes for a few minutes and WMM does not collapse in on itself and kill all my beautiful shiny clips.

This appears to be working.

The last few days have been spent in a heady daze of Making That Doctor Who Vid That Is In My Head. Suspiciously, this is going Quite Well. Still need to get Armageddon Factor and Androids o Tara on avi, but otherwise seem to have collected all the clips I was looking for. The pinnacle so far has been the twelve hours when I was forced to abandon Ilya so he could quietly rip Two Doctors. But twas successful! Pretty colours! Two & Jamie! (But the only reason I wanted it was for a second of Six's fishing scene at the beginning - see my work ethic? Um, fannish work ethic? It are Strong, dude.)

I am still looking for Somewhere To Live. Um, yes, I'm quite keen on convincing self that Mental Health Benefits of not having the stress of living with People I Don't Know is more important than having any sorts of savings at all. Um, how much is it possible to live off per week? Not counting rent, and possibly quietly ignoring bills for electricity and heating, could I live of £30 a week and not starve? (Thus I reveal the crapness of my budgeting over the past few years, cause I really just gave up and hoped Everything Would Be Okay. I WAS GOOD IN FIRST YEAR, DUDE, I had no debt then.)

I am a bit worrying about my sleeping habits. They are rubbish, mainly, I think, due to lacking any sort of a routine. This is being solved by self being given a list of things To Do in the morning from Mum, who has helpfully decided to assist with my efforts to have A Routine. Seem to remember Routines being quite important, at least one doctor said that anyway. I cannot remember if it was one I liked or not, but I think it is possibly A Good Plan.

Term time only? As in, would you be able to go home and not have to live on £30 for a few weeks in the vacation? Because that makes a difference.

£30 is possible. Work out what you do, either weekly or monthly. Food, travel, cinema tickets, DVDs, drink, clothes, phone bill. I spend about £20 a week on food, so £30 is only just enough for me, but if you buy the cheapest pasta and tomato sauces etc then it can be far less (although when I do that I get bored and accidentally go out to eat rather than face yet more bolognese). JSA says I need £56 a week to live on (but that has to pay bills except council tax and rent), although as you are younger you only need about £45 according to Official People.

Oooh, so Actually Doable? Interesting, yes.

Yes, is for termtime. Is because in order to afford Living Place By Self, I have to use money for Living off to Put Towards Rent, and if I can live of £30 a week I can definitely afford a place, but hope can find somewhere bit cheaper, yes.

If you can be really strict with yourself, and plan a budget and stick to it, then yes, it's probably doable. Day to day living's not too difficult to keep under control for me, but things like going away for the weekend, or buying books, are really hard to manage.

WMM is excellent, with patience. I anticipate the results with joy.

(Two and Jamie? Six? The Armageddon Factor? Yay for old-school vids!)

I don't know if it's what you need, but there are a bunch of romana clips here: http://otp_probably.livejournal.com/. I bet some of them would be from Armageddon Factor/Androids of Tara.

Um, I live on £7 a week for food. And I probably spend, uh, about another £15 in general a week in terms of Going And Getting Drunk (I'm a lightweight) and Social Interaction. So yes, it is thoroughly easy to live on £30 a week, as long as you don't mind being stict on yourself and not buying stuff like DVDs and CDs and books except for maybe once a month or so.

(Also, re: the food thing, I have to admit that I only eat two meals a day because I find it SO MUCH CHEAPEReasier to sleep to get energy rather than eat lunch.)

Admittingly, I also live in the Lesbian Geek Commune Of Love, so a lot of my food pricves are split between four, which makes everything magically cheaper. However, I did a month of living on £65 all by myself, and whilst I did not eat in an exciting or adeventrous way, I did eat enough. It's... doable.

OK, I'm putting my mother hat on.

You won't be able to afford DVDs, CDs and alcohol.

You will need to sort out some economical recipes to live on. Try asking your flist for meals that are cheap and tasty, then you can make a file of the ones that you might eat.

My meal suggestion is jacket potato. Microwave a large potato for about 10mins (don't forget to prick the skin or it will explode). Then you can fill it with a mixture of a small tin of tuna fish (cheap brand) and mayonnaise (keep a jar handy in the fridge)

Shop at Aldi or Lidl they have tasty food, cheap

It will probably not be quite so low, but knowing How To Make Cheap Food is always a good thing and I will not talk my diet last year, no.

I live off £40 a week (and that's including petrol to get me to and from work) so it is possible. I recommend making a big excel spreadsheet of stuff you spend money on each month, it's what I do and it has saved me from going overdrawn more times than I can count.

Hiya! (I'm sharps; this is actually my Going to Germany journal, but you don't mind do you?) I got my Green Death video on Monday. Thank you! Jo looks a bit... odd on the cover, but it's a good likeness of Number Three Doctor. It is perfectly possible to live on £30 a week as long as your drink of choice is Asda's Californian Red and you get LimeWire for your musical needs (and ration yourself to 1 DVD per month). Learn to make spaghetti bolognese, as you can make at least three portios out of one packet of mince, one tin of chopped tomatoes and normal amounts of all the other ingredients. Alsoif you have a boiled egg for breakfast, carry on, because that costs less than 10p a day.

Oh yes, and hop at ASDA, and also, make a big list of everything you want but don't desperately need (like books, DVDs etc) with their prices next to them. Then, if you have any spare money, treat yourself once in a while to something within your budget and cross it off your list.
