Oh, that was beautiful! Very understated, but it packed a huge wallop. (Ooh, and The West Wing's made it so I already tear up every time I hear that song.) Gorgeous!

yay, another DW fanvid from you. ^.^

[identity profile] skywaterblue.livejournal.com 2008-08-14 04:58 am (UTC)(link)
It's a crossover vid! (Sorry; I had somehow blocked out that we were talking West Wing earlier and was like, 'blah, this song again, nothing can be better than the canon vid for WW...' and then like, shot of Doctor in the rain. OICNAO.)

I loved 'so many different worlds'. 'baptism of fire' and the creepy shot of the German Daleks in the Black Forest was awesome as well. And the Harriet Jones sequence! And you cut out Handy, so the ending becomes all about Donna KICKING ASS. I approve. I approve. If only the episode were as awesome as this vid.

I watched Two Cathedrals the same weekend Journey's End was on. It was a slight influence.

And you cut out Handy, so the ending becomes all about Donna KICKING ASS.

Catharsis!

I think I'm going to watch it a hundred times so that becomes the real ending.

YES.

Oh, that's good. I like that... a lot better than I like the episode(s), actually. Makes me a bit sniffly.

That song always makes shivers go up my spine. That is such a beautiful, sad vid. Harriet Jones' sacrifice and Donna's moment of triumph at the end stood out in particular. And I loved the rain at the beginning, so very Two Cathedrals. Wonderful.

I love that song - I've got a Dire Straits fan in the family - and I love what you've done with it here.

OMG SONG. West Wing! Not technically a fandom crossover, but still excellent.

And the vid: beautiful, understated, heartfelt. *goes to watch again*

That song always makes me cry in The West Wing and the tears were doubled here. The Harriet Jones sequence was perfect as was the Donna sequence at the end. Gorgeous.

Bloody hell, that's wonderful. It pretty much shows everybody made of win.

I love whatever Mark Knoffler sings to that tune (Lily of the West, etc.)

Oh that was so, so gorgeous. Long and lingering and desperately sad, but lovely as well.

Lovely vid, m'dear! I love it and I can remember once more why I enjoyed parts of the finale.

Also, fantastic selection of song. Dire Straits rock and I need to hunt down this song (so ashamed I don't have it!)

Having read the other comments I feel I should tell you I've not watched much of The West Wing.

I love your vid, love it. I love how you tweak Donna's story to emphasise how marvelous she is and the sombre tone and pace. It fits so well it seems as though the song's been waiting twenty-four years for you to match it to this episode of Doctor Who.

Beautiful.

I'm still a bit winded from the silent but powerful umph this vid packed, but let me tell you - it was gorgeous. Lovely timing and musicality; there were a hundred little moments - like holograms of planets realigning themselves in synch with the guitar riff - that just flowed so incredibly well with the music it made my ears very happy.
And it squeezed a tear out of me - at the Harriet Jones sequence. Thank you for giving her a far more serious tribute than RTD did *grumble grumble butt of a joke grumble grumble*

[identity profile] bats_eye.livejournal.com 2008-08-19 10:24 am (UTC)(link)
This is wonderful, I must have watched it half a dozen times already. One of the best vids I've ever seen.
