Doctor Who Logomageddon

The BBC web people, in their infinite wisdom, have maked a wee thing where we can Look At and Judge all the Doctor Who logos with the Touch Of A Magic Internet Button with a wee bit of info about when they were around. (I love how they coyly refer to Dimensions In Time as "a celebratory story in 1993", as though if they speak its True Name, it will appear to wreak bloody 3D-vision vengeance.)
So, cause it is of Most Importance, take a look-see at the logos and vote in this handy poll:

Date: 2009-10-06 03:54 pm (UTC)The comic book feel of McCoy's logo to me is just as iconic for fun adventures in time and space as the Superman or Uncanny X-Men logos are for fun adventures defending the world from evil super-villains. There's nothing else quite like them! :)

Date: 2009-10-06 04:23 pm (UTC)I remember with aghast fondness the diamond-shaped logo of my youth, with Tom Baker's "OMGWTF" face at the top of it.
I think the TARDISy logo for Eleven is cool, but am not loving the wordmark so much.

Date: 2009-10-06 05:27 pm (UTC)It's almost as nifty!
Also I voted for Three, though I'm starting to think I should've voted for Eight just so that the design (which is practically the same) would have a chance at beating Four.

Date: 2009-10-06 06:49 pm (UTC)Anyway, I ended up choosing 1, mostly because my taste in design tends towards bold and simple and a lot of the later logos were, well, a bit busy in comparison. And of the more simple logos, I liked the font used in 1 best (though the Pertwee/McGann font is actually more memorable, so it's probably the better design from an objective standpoint.)

Date: 2009-10-06 11:32 pm (UTC)See my icon for My Doctor, but 10 is my favourite logo. I think the new one is too plain, and I can't see it working on merchandise - far too subtle!

Date: 2009-10-07 03:52 am (UTC)... but ultimately those have to come in second because one goes for one's first logo, and for me that was the very first one, which I saw in 1963 after school - which dates me like whoah, I know. But when I think Dr. Who, I think of that old black and white crazy-wavy thing and am very happy.
