The BBC web people, in their infinite wisdom, have maked a wee thing where we can Look At and Judge all the Doctor Who logos with the Touch Of A Magic Internet Button with a wee bit of info about when they were around. (I love how they coyly refer to Dimensions In Time as "a celebratory story in 1993", as though if they speak its True Name, it will appear to wreak bloody 3D-vision vengeance.)

So, cause it is of Most Importance, take a look-see at the logos and vote in this handy poll:

I really really adore the Colin Baker colors and Neon Tubing logo, but Sylvester's logo will always be my one true love when it comes to Who logos.

Heeee! Oh, I am like the opposite in that those are my least favs BUT I LOVE THAT YOU LOVE THEM. I worried as I clicked through them that no-one could ever love them best and they would be sad.

I can't really go for the earlier logos (Pre-Baker) because they're just words on the screen and don't look very exciting. The neon tubing (both TB/Davison and Baker versions) have the same effect on me as the TB/Davison music, they really make me feel the "Relative Dimensions in Space" portion of the show.

The comic book feel of McCoy's logo to me is just as iconic for fun adventures in time and space as the Superman or Uncanny X-Men logos are for fun adventures defending the world from evil super-villains. There's nothing else quite like them! :)

It may be a case of "you never forget your first Doctor", but I quite like Eight's logo even if they totally ripped it off the Pertwee era.

I voted for #4 because that was my "first" Doctor and because, well, I like the look of it. #10 was a very close second. I must say that #7 looks like the title should be "Disco Doctor"! It's so *very* 80s. The new one is interesting. I'm not sure yet what I think of it.

The Diamond Logo is probably the bestest and most iconic, alas. Blasted colour telly.

I'm the only one so far to vote for Five? Wow. Well, at least it has one vote now. And I think I like the new one. It's a huge improvement over what they had been using, anyway.

I'm actually a fan of Eight's! In theory, I should also be a fan of Three's era, but there's something about Eight's that's slightly more appealing. It may also be because we just watched the movie recently at a DWNY meet-up. GOOD FUN, though I wish everyone there had already seen it so I wouldn't have to be shushed constantly for making snarky commentary.

I pick the first one solely because it spared me the Big Giant Head. I'm sorry but the Big Giant Head of the Doctor staring at me out of my telly (and because I have a pretty big screen, it really *is* a Big Giant Head, not a head that resembles anything on human scale) makes me very nervous for some reason. YOU ARE ON THE OTHER SIDE OF A CAMERA, DOCTOR. YOU CANNOT SEE ME. STOP DOING THAT.

If I was not taking the Big Giant Head into consideration I would probably chose either the second or third one, because the only thing better than lava-lampy swirly things is lava-lampy swirly things with lots of pretty confetti colors.

Sadly, those of us not in the UK are limited to a static graphic of the new logo -- we don't get the nifty Flash retrospective.

I remember with aghast fondness the diamond-shaped logo of my youth, with Tom Baker's "OMGWTF" face at the top of it.

I think the TARDISy logo for Eleven is cool, but am not loving the wordmark so much.

Dude dude I am in the US and got this: http://www.bbc.co.uk/doctorwho/s4/features/galleries/gallery_logos/1

It's almost as nifty!

Also I voted for Three, though I'm starting to think I should've voted for Eight just so that the design (which is practically the same) would have a chance at beating Four.

Interesting! The first time I tried, I just got a static graphic of the new logo, but a repeat visit gives me the whole gallery. Cool! Now I can vote!

Has to be the diamond logo for me, with the neon second. Diamond logo is part of my favourite opening titles ever and it's like I want to go "Oh hell yes, here we gooooooooooooooo!!!" and dance around whenever I watch those titles.

I didn't vote for it, but I'm pleased to see the McCoy one holding its own. Although it's very much of its time and looked rubbish on magazine covers, I think it's rather cute.

For me, I had to try to separate Doctor from logo in my mind to really judge things, since, for instance, I hate the Seven logo's design forever and ever but since I love him as a Doctor I still get excited when I see it.

Anyway, I ended up choosing 1, mostly because my taste in design tends towards bold and simple and a lot of the later logos were, well, a bit busy in comparison. And of the more simple logos, I liked the font used in 1 best (though the Pertwee/McGann font is actually more memorable, so it's probably the better design from an objective standpoint.)

See my icon for My Doctor, but 10 is my favourite logo. I think the new one is too plain, and I can't see it working on merchandise - far too subtle!

The more I think about it, the more the new logo grows on me (obv.) It's the TARDIS that makes it - all the other logos are just squares or diamonds or lozenges.

I love the two logos of 2005 and beyond, I truly do, because of their color, and their very kinetic feel, and the fact that they heralded a return to the tv screen ...

... but ultimately those have to come in second because one goes for one's first logo, and for me that was the very first one, which I saw in 1963 after school - which dates me like whoah, I know. But when I think Dr. Who, I think of that old black and white crazy-wavy thing and am very happy.
