Landed back in Blighty yesterday, stumbled north like a slowly freezing zombie and collapsed into bed mid-afternoon. Then woke up spluttering with icky cold symptoms this morning. JOYOUS.

But twas totally awesome convention-time and Disney-time, even though I did pick up a teeny wee bit of a bug thing. Possibly most relaxing convention have been to? Fantastic, anyways. And that British pub did actually do pretty decent fish and chips, which was quite nice.

Matt Smith's favourite Doctor is Troughton. I think that's v important info. Or it make me ridic happy, anyway.

LOVE TO YOU ALL YOU WERE ALL SO AWESOME. I saw lots of people. And I judged a masquerade using my Awesome Skills of Judgeyness. There was an Unexpected Giraffe at Animal Kingdom that just snuck up like a scary thing though it was a giraffe and they don't eat people so actually it was okay.

More Nytol and sleeps now maybe, yes.

A good omen. Or, as you say, a happy-making one. Also, I approve of everyone wheeling out their Two icons.

I was feeling a little icky when I got home, but that was more due to me not sleeping the whole time. I made up for it by sleeping 13 hours. It was wonderful.

But I just like blaming Rob for things. Like... *cough* dinners...

Smart. I've had a fair amount of people friend me on Facebook, and I only friend people there that I've met IRL, had more than one passing conversation with AND don't make me feel uncomfortable. Which leaves that number of people from HW quite small.

The most awesome person you hung out with? ME. Don't even play. ;-)

I'm sorry you're still sick. I am VERY impressed, however, that you made it to the other parks despite being hotter than the sun.

Oooo, where did he say that?
I assume at that one con (http://www.hurricanewho.com/)? But links or a write-up or something would be fun too.

Sadly I have no Two icons to accompany this comment. :(

"Matt Smith's favourite Doctor is Troughton."

Moff tiem now? Now? How about now? (Also, I'd thought he supposedly never watched the show, either that was wrong or he's doing a crash viewing course.)

So he's new to the Whoniverse and went and watched old school eps and decided that Troughton was his favorite?

In what way does that NOT indicate that he is, oh, I dunno, observant and interesting and just as awesome as Moffatt keeps saying?

(And also a lot like me, in the "new fan who thinks Troughton is great" department. And we're nearly the same age. Spooky.)

I am much encouraged, anyway.

dude, like moffat would allow someone to play the doctor without force-feeding them some old school episodes first. he's probably lucky moffat didn't make him memorise the episodes by their production codes in order.

My guess is that it's practically impossible to have never watched Doctor Who. Hell, I live in Canada, and I'd seen it and known about it years before I ever became a fan.

It was always broadcast where I was at something like eleven-thirty on Sunday nights (Chicago area PBS station), so I don't think I ever saw more than bits and pieces growing up. Pre-New Who my only knowledge of the show was, "He travels in time and wears a very long scarf."

Add in "also, he eats jelly babies" and that was pretty much my only knowledge too.

In the UK, if you grew up in the nineties, it was v easy to never have seen.

Did they not do reruns? (I know UK TV doesn't work the same way, so it wouldn't surprise me if they didn't do reruns of Doctor Who.)

I grew up mostly during the 80s, and it was practically impossible to have never seen Star Trek. It was everywhere, even before TNG came on. I always figured it was like that for Doctor Who-- it's such a part of the culture that even if you didn't follow it, you had seen some episodes and had some knowledge about it.

Not really, no. The Beeb put a couple of stories on BBC 2 in the early nineties and UK Gold would sometimes have it on once a week, v early morning, but that's about it.

Despite that, it'd be tricky to find a Brit who wouldn't recognise the TARDIS, a Dalek or The Guy With The Long Scarf as that stuff got absorbed into pop culture.
