OMG the earmonster thingies. My dad showed med a lot of Trek as a wee child, which is fine, it was a GOOD THING, but the earmonster thingies in Wrath of Khan set me off like pretty much nothing else. FATHER THAT WAS NOT SUITABLE FOR A FIVE YEAR OLD.
That said, I have a lifelong appreciation of 'really good space battles' so maybe I owe him. MAYBE.
